Taurine

Taurine

Taurine is one of the most abundant free amino acids in the body. It can be found in almost all tissues, but it is produced only in the brain and the liver. This amino acid is responsible for the smooth functioning of various body structures, especially: heart, muscle, retina, nervous system and brain. Taurine is an important regulator of the ion exchange and cell membrane stability. Furthermore, it plays an important role in the metabolism of bile salts by contributing to the emulsion and absorption of fat-soluble substances in the intestinal tract.
