About Organic Buckwheat

There are two types of buckwheat that are most widely grown for food: common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) and tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tartaricum). Because it is neither a grain nor related to wheat, buckwheat is gluten-free and suitable for those with coeliac disease or other forms of gluten intolerance. Having numerous health benefits - it is rich in many trace minerals (including manganese, magnesium and copper) and a good source of B vitamins (B6, thiamin and riboflavin) - it is tasty and easy to prepare.

For a new eattitude

Unlike wheat, buckwheat is gluten-free and has a more rustic, earthy flavour. You can use it to make pancakes, crepes and bread. It gives a slightly brownish tinge to the dishes.

Suggested Use: Simmer the grain for 10 to 15 minutes using a 2: 1 ratio of water to buckwheat. You can also eat the grain raw, by grinding it and adding it to shakes, fruit, and yoghurt.
