Isotonic drinks

Isotonic drinks mostly consist of water, carbohydrates (up to 8 g/100 ml) and electrolytes (sodium and potassium), and are often used by competition athletes who undergo exhausting training sessions. In terms of concentration of nutrients and electrolytes, these drinks are similar to the liquids inside the body. That is the reason why the absorption process takes place more quickly, making them a more efficient means to hydration than water itself.
