What is ANC?ANC stands for Active Noise Cancellation, a type of technology that allows headphones and earphones to reduce background noise so that the user hears more of what they want to hear, and less of what they don't. The lower noise level makes it possible to have phone conversations or listen to music at reduced volumes while still being able to perceive every detail.  How does it work?ANC devices use microphones placed close to where sound enters the ear. These mics pick up incoming noise frequencies, generating a second sound based on them to counter the first — an "anti-noise" output that effectively cancels out the input. Essentially, the peaks and valleys of the incoming sound are suppressed by the respective valleys and peaks of the DSP-generated second sound before reaching the listener's ear. The chipThe DSP microchip at the heart of ANC technology is where the magic happens. Logically, the better the chip, the better the noise reduction, as this is the central element responsible for generating the anti-noise.
